He is the man who makes others tremble when his name is heard. He is the man who took part in the nightmares of children of some certain period. He is the greatest villain of the movie history. He is a dark lord who rules the galaxy with an iron fist and a fire of hatred in his heart. And now, he is here, to answer what we all wonder about. YILDIZSAVASLARI.COM presents with great pride, its third and one of the greatest interviews; his majesty Darth Vader, also known as Dave Prowse.

As a note, we have to state that eventhough Dave Prowse had been very busy attending several fan conventions around the globe, he has kindly accepted to spare his time for us and to answer five questions. You can reach his website or contact him for convention appearances through this link: http://www.darthvader-starwars.com

YS.COM: When we look back to your career, before the Star Wars era, we see you in several different roles. You were a minotaur, an android and even a knight in 1977 production “Jabberwocky”. After that, you were offered a role in Star Wars. What was your first impression when you first heard about the Star Wars project ?

D.P.: Had no idea what the Star Wars project was about when I went for job, just another film described by George Lucas as a space fantasy movie. I worked for 5 months and wanted to get away as I was offered other work at the same time.

YS.COM: The character you were to act obviously required an armor. Have you ever had a difficult moment while you were in the armor? What can you tell about the “Darth Vader costume” ?

D.P.: The Darth Vader suit was made to measure so comfortable. Mask and helmet a problem as they were too big and the mask had to be padded with foam rubber to fit my face.

YS.COM: Do you have a moment which you can’t forget about while you were on the set ?

D.P.: One unforgettable moment was when I threw the Emperors stunt man off the gantry in one take after they had been struggling for a week with two stunt men trying and failing to do the job.

YS.COM: We have Luke as Vader’s son, the Emperor as his master, and Obi Wan as his old mentor. How was your relation with Mark Hamil, Ian McDiarmid and Sir Alec Guinness ?

D.P.: Sir Alec Guinness and Mark Hammill were pleasant to work and socialise with, I have had no association with Ian McDiarmid, the only time I went to see him at his theatre in London he refused to come to the stage door.

YS.COM: Many fans wished to see you as Darth Vader again in Episode III, but unfortunately you were not able. What do you think about Hayden Christensen’s performance as Vader ?

D.P.: I enjoyed Hayden Christensen's performance but it was obvious that he never had my stature to carry the role and the five inch blocks he was walking on made his actions rather Frankensteinlike.

YS.COM: As the Turkish fans, we would be honored to have you here one day Would you like to com to Turkey in the future?

D.P.: Would love to come to Turkey to do a personal appearance.

YS.COM: Thanks a lot for sparing your time and sharing your precious memories and experiences, it had been an honor for us.

D.P.: It was my pleasure.

Special thanks to Dave Evans for his help contacting Mr. Prowse, and to Aygün Özgür for his help on the interview questions.
