Who is Daniel Logan?

Daniel Logan (born 6 June 1987 in New Zealand) is a Maori actor from New Zealand, who broke into acting when his amateur rugby team was scouted for a TV commercial, where he was chosen to play the role of a small child who gets knocked into the mud by Auckland rugby star Michael Jones.

Picked up by a casting agent, he began to do more commercials and TV appearances, including a recurring role in episodes of the New Zealand-based medical series "Shortland Street" and a guest appearance in the international series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys".

His most prolific role was as the young Boba Fett in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones; George Lucas has expressed interest in him continuing the role on the Star Wars live-action TV series. Incidentally, the role of Boba Fett's father Jango Fett would be played by Temuera Morrison, whom Logan had known as a fellow cast-member on the Shortland Street series. He took part in projects such as:

The Legend of Johnny Lingo (2003) - Young Pua
TakaPu: A Gannet in the South Seas (2003) TV Series - TakaPu (voice)
Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002) - Boba Fett
Hercules - The Legendary Journeys (1999) TV Series - Zaylan
Shortland Street (1992) TV Series - Ben Hollins

Among others, Boba Fett is the most fearful bounty hunter in the universe. There were many question marks about the past of this dangerous and mysterious bounty hunter, until it was revealed in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. We were introduced a younger Boba Fett, whom he learned much from his father and shared both his talents and his notoriousness. We have asked a couple of questions to Daniel Logan, who played as the young (and probably the new) Boba Fett about himself and his role and he gladly agreed to share all with YILDIZSAVASLARI.COM. We hope you like it, here it is:

YS.COM: Boba Fett is one of the most popular characters in the Star Wars universe. So, how does it feel to be the most notorious “future” bounty hunter in the galaxy?

D. L.: Playing a character that has so many fans was great. Being able to see what the character looks like and how he acts in the future was an inspiration for me.

YS.COM: Fans became very anxious when they heard that a younger Boba Fett will show up in Episode II. What were your feelings when you first heard of the role? How did you end up with it?

D. L.: I was excited, VERY excited. To be a part of Star Wars was a dream come true. Even at 13, I knew what an honour it was to be selected as an actor in Star Wars.

YS.COM: Surely one of the most exciting scenes in Episode II is the fight between Obi-Wan and Jango Fett on the landing platform. Could you tell us about the atmosphere in the Kamino Landing Platform scene?

D. L.: It was wet! It was also great fun. Temuera had a rainbow coloured umbrella and was dancing around the rainy sets.

YS.COM: A most common part of all Star Wars movies is a space dogfight. Was it difficult to fly “Slave I”? Could you tell about your experiences while shooting the Asteroid Field scene?

D. L.: Not really. The cockpit was fun to film in. It was all there, no blue or green screen. It looks as if I have to crawl in the seat that is situated horizontally, but it was not. Temuera and I had fun during the asteroid scene. I had to do my “FIRE” and my little evil laugh when we thought we got Obi-Wan.

YS.COM: The first time we see you is the “Jango’s Apartment” scene, In that scene, Jango tells you something and you close the door. What language is it?

D. L.: To my knowledge it was not a real language. But I could be wrong.

YS.COM: Talking about the scenes in Episode II, what is your favorite scene (among yours) and why?

D. L.: My favourite scene that I am in is when Boba is holding Jango’s helmet in the arena. It is very emotional with the way the scene is lit, filmed and the music. My favourite scene that I am not in is when Yoda is battling Count Dooku.

YS.COM: Although you were much young to have more action in the movie, fans would love to see more Boba Fett. Are there any young Boba Fett scenes which were cut out of the movie?

D. L.: Not that I can remember.

YS.COM: The character that you are most related to is eventually your father, Jango Fett. How was your relation with Temuera Morrison on and outside of the set?

D. L.: Temuera and I are very good friends. We still see each other. On set we had a great relationship, playing father and son.

YS.COM: You are one of the youngest actors that played in the entire Star Wars saga. What are your feelings about taking part in these popular series?

D. L.: All I can say is that I am very honoured to be a part of Star Wars. As I have grown older, I have realized just how widespread and popular Star Wars is. There are references to Star Wars in so many TV shows and films. The whole thing amazes me and again, I am very proud to be a small part of something so big.

YS.COM: Besides Darth Vader’s armor, the armor of the Fett family is very appealing. What would be your personal choice: to wear the original green Boba Fett costume or the silver Jango Fett costume?

D. L.: I actually like them both. Jango’s is nice with a shiny new look, where Boba’s is more rugged and battle damaged looking.

YS.COM: Some news are popping up from Lucasfilm about a new TV series. Are you going to take part in the new Star Wars TV series? (If you will, are there any news about it?)

D. L.: At this time, I have no news to give as I have not been asked to be involved. It is my understanding that the series is still in the development stage. If I am asked to be a part of the new series, I would be willing and honoured. Whether or not I am a part of the new series, I am sure it will be wonderful and the fans will enjoy it.

YS.COM: If not the TV show, what will be your next project?

D. L.: I am actually concentrating on school at this time. I am always pursuing my acting career as well. I work regularly with acting and dialogue coaches.

YS.COM: We are sure that being evil is cool, but would you rather prefer to be a Jedi Knight?

D. L.: No, being Boba is fine with me. But if I was asked to play a Jedi, I would not say no.

YS.COM: Are you collecting any Star Wars merchandise?

D. L.: I do. I enjoy collecting Boba Fett merchandise. There are so many things about Boba that it will take me many years to get them all. Some of my favourite items are the fan made ones. There are many talented people who are fans of Boba Fett.

YS.COM: What do you think about our web site?

D. L.: I think it looks great. I enjoyed seeing the fan art section.

YS.COM: What is your message to the Star Wars fans in Turkey?

D. L.: I would like to say thank you for supporting Star Wars. I hope to visit your wonderful country some day.

YS.COM: We thought one day the young bounty hunter may be emissioned in our part of the galaxy. Would you like to visit Turkey one day?

D. L.: Certainly! I would love to visit Istanbul and the Church of St. Sophia as well as the Topkapi Palace. I have also heard the Grand Bazaar is a site to see. There is so much history in Turkey, I hope someday to be able to see it in person.

YS.COM: Thank you for sparing your time and sharing your great experiences.

D. L.: Thank you for your wonderful questions,
